Due to the resurfacing of courts in preparation for the 2009 Moorilla Hobart International the following courts will be closed until December 1;
Courts 8, 9, 10, 11, East and West.
We are installing 6 new Plexicushion Prestige courts – the same surface that the Australian Open is now played on.
Tennis Tasmania has revealed the new plans for upgrades to the Domain Tennis Centre, home of the the Moorilla Hobart International. The Plans involve three stages, with the main focus being on the redevelopment of the existing temporary stand on the main court, with permanent seating, as well as provide seating at the northern end of the court. The upgrade will take the seating volume to 2800, more than 1000 spectators seating than the present centre court can hold. Another focus, in the redevelopment is the relaying of the court surface. The courts are presently Rebound Ace, but need to be changed to the blue Plexicushion used at the Australian Open.
Tennis Tasmania is in negotiations with the State Government as well as talks with Federal representatives and Tennis Australia. To keep the Moorilla Hobart International, Tennis Australia has told Tennis Tasmania that to run an international event of this calibre these improvements have to be made.
